If we had to choose (from our Polish friends) one person, that is most passionate about RC competitions – he might have a good chance to be chosen 😉
Why do we think so? Because he is “all in” when it comes to rc-trial.pl’s comps. From building rigs with all the regulations and “rivarly” in mind, to taking part in them and giving ideas when rules for new season are being prepared (we are almost 100% sure, he memorized them all 😉 ).
Other than being a great competitor, he also is a really nice guy with huge knowledge about RC. It’s always fun to talk to him when we meet (that happens not so often unfortunatelly, 5 times a year at most, so far) and discuss new builds, parts and solutions 🙂
With a great pleasure we present to you answers to our “5 questions to:..” from another great RC Maniac from Poland 😉 Say hello to Jerry Cornelius! 😀
- How has your RC adventure started and what was your first RC?
Oh, it’s hard to say when it all started 😀 You can say that men are kind of big babies really, and with time they just update their toys for better 😉
First remote controlled models had a wire and I got them as preschooler. They were: FSO Polonez 1500 “Milicja”, Fiat 125p and Fiat 126p.
I got my first wireless and with proportional steering model from my aunt, when i was in elementary school – red Lamborghini Diablo. It had lights, needed 6 AA batteries and 9V battery for the remote. Fun for less than an hour 😉
First real RC, with available spare parts, if something break, was nitro Tiger ER-1 BMW M3 1:8. I got this RC, because it was a BMW (I’m a fan of this company, so I had to have it back then) 😀 , that I changed for HPI RTR NITRO RS4 4 EVO+ later. Smaller scale but more bodies to choose from. With that RC my adventure with nitro RCs ended and I switched to electric models on-road such as: Team Associated 4, Tamiya TT-01. Living in the country where is not many flat surface for on-road, i got interested in offroad 4×4 models 🙂 and my first trial rig was Tamiya CR-01 with Toyota FJ40 body.
- Which RC (that you own or owned) is your favorite?
From all RCs I had, it’s hard to choose one that is my favorite 🙂 Each of them is special in it’s own way, but I have most fond memories with my Toyota Hilux 3gen, Toyota FJ40 and Jeep Wrangler TJ. At the time these rigs existed, prepared keeping in mind competition rules, were from a to z perfect.
From my trucks, I have no problem to say that my favorite is Soviet engineering solutions – Kraz 255b 6×6, that I own for 6 year now. It goes through slow (because of the lack of time) components update 🙂
- What is your dream RC?
I dream about building BMW e36 coupe in 1:10 scale, with interior, cockpit, carrier and engine bay. I have the body already, with time other construction parts will appear 😉
- What do you like the most in this hobby?
What I like the most in this hobby is that it can make me forget about the world around. It works calming, de-stressing. I can think about a problem with my RC for a long time, until I resolve it 😉 I also like that there is always something that can me improved in the rig, even better solution, that help me evolve.
The biggest prize comes during competitions, when it’s time to face other participants, test your abilities when it comes to driving or building RC. When I am the the track with my rig, everything else, worries, cares are not important. There is only me and my RC. This beautiful, magical moment when I feel I’m alive!
- What are 4 things that you always take on your RC adventures?
- Phone – there may be something worth immortalizing 😉
- RC 😀
- Tools and parts to repair RC (axles, shafts, electronics), never know what can break
- Field boots to change and something to drink 😉
