As you probably already know, SCX10 II gearbox is different than in “old” SCX10. Fun fact – only in KIT version ๐Ÿ˜› In RTR you’ll find gearbox from AX10 ๐Ÿ˜›

Metal gears

All gears (except spur gear) are metal.

Upgrade to 2 gears

SCX10 II can be upgraded to 2 gear version (in KIT it’s 1 gear, you need to buy set of parts to upgrade it).

WB8-HD driveshafts

Unfortunately WB8-HD driveshafts… [to read about differences between WB8 and WB8-HD driveshafts CLICK here]

Realistic look

Another fun thing – this gearbox looks more like a “real” one (when you mount it backwards, it looks as it was going from the engine ๐Ÿ˜€ ). Thanks to the way it was designed, driveshafts are much lower – as low, that skid plate has gouges to make them fit ๐Ÿ™‚

Mounting the motor

It’s not a brand new design – you can find it in Yeti and Bomber. This one looks slightly different, but the way it works is the same. Difference is in mounting motor to it – in Yeti there is a “band clamp” that you put the motor in and secure. In SCX10 II motor is screwed in a “traditional” way. Unfortunately to plastic, not metal plate.

Screw drama continues..

All in all putting together SCX10 II gearbox is very nice – except part, when you need to screw something together.. It’s really annoying with tiny thread screws..
