We’ve been thinking about this upgrade for some time, so when the opportunity to collab with Amain Hobbies appeared, we’ve decided to finally do it 🙂
Because Sandra’s #TheMighySkull is quite long (320mm wheelbase), it had a slight problem with getting stuck on it’s belly. That’s why the idea to switch the skid plate to flat one, seemed to be a perfect remedy for this problem.
We were wondering how much will the wheelbase change and what we’re gonna need to adjust to make everything fit well, but fortunately there was not that much of a change (320mm to 315mm wheelbase). We had to cut a tiny bit of the battery tray and make a whole in the body to fit the gearbox as it’s now a bit higher (clearence is 7mm bigger). The change of the rig’s center of the gravity is not a problem – it drives really well. Also – the lowest part of the frame now are the BPC rock sliders, which is perfect. We’ll see if it’s gonna need some more adjustements after few more rides.
When it comes to assembly – its really easy. There is some screws to be unscrewed obviously, but it’s nothing more than that. Simple and effective upgrade 🙂
- wheelbase from 320mm to 315mm*
- clearence +7mm
- gearbox up 5mm
*we didn’t change the lenght of the links
We are very happy with how this upgrade turned out – had a chance to drive a bit on the rocks and it was killing it! 🙂 No problem with getting stuck at the belly, no problem with higher center of the gravity – #TheMightySkull was “glued” to the surface as usual 🙂
